Train like J.Lo & Co.: This celebrity workout burns the most calories

A six-pack like J.Lo or a plump butt like Kim Kardashian – the figures of the stars are both role models and motivation for many.

But you don’t get good looks for free even as a celebrity. Whether strength training, cardio or abs, legs and buttocks – fans are regularly provided with snapshots from the gym.

Which celebrity workout is particularly effective? The British company My Vital Metrics investigated this – and found out which training burns the most calories.

Without anticipating the placement, we can already tell you this much: Imitation is definitely worthwhile.

This is how the study went

First, the company found out which ten stars were particularly popular with young women when it came to fitness at the time.

The top 10 are: Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Ellie Goulding, Kourtney Kardashian, Vanessa Judgens, Chrissy Teigen, Margot Robbie, Jessy J, Khloé Kardashian and Beyoncé.

Then several women and men were equipped with a fitness tracker. Within two weeks they completed the workouts that the celebrities shared on Instagram.

Ellie Goulding trains most effectively

According to the study, the winner is British singer Ellie Goulding. With their workout, the test subjects burned a whopping 573 calories, the male test subjects even 679 calories.

However, the workout also has it all. In one hour, Ellie performs six different exercises, such as weighted squats.

She impressively shows that the hard training pays off.

Second place: Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is fitter than ever today – she also owes that to her iron sports program. Like Ellie, Kim works out for an hour, six days a week, according to Kim’s personal trainer, Melissa Alcantara.

Women burned 552 calories in the test series, men 644. It’s not really surprising that Kim’s workout focuses on legs and butt.

On Instagram, the reality star showed what such a workout with her trainer looks like.

First, Kim starts with a circuit training consisting of four rounds of each of these four exercises:

  1. 100 jumping jacks with weights
  2. 50 jump squats on a cable machine
  3. 100 BOSU mountain climbers
  4. 50 box jumps

Then Kim goes on the treadmill for another 25 minutes (speed 2.5, incline 15) – definitely sounds sweaty!

Third place: Kourtney Kardashian

Athleticism seems to run in this family, with Kim’s older sister Kourtney Kardashian taking third place.

As the American reveals, her favorite thing to do is HIIT workouts. In this she builds, for example, burpees, exercises with a resistance band, squats and lunges.

Kourtney’s favorite exercise: box jumps. Three sets of ten box jumps, try to do them every day.

In 60 minutes, men burned 598 calories and women burned 497 calories.

Fourth place: Jennifer Lopez

J.Lo’s workout is only ten minutes shorter, giving her fourth place. The testers burned 489 calories during exercise, and the male test subjects burned 579 calories.

After a 10-minute cardio session, J.Lo’s workout consists of kettlebell exercises, push-ups, and shoulder taps.

At home, too, J.Lo likes to do sweaty sessions – preferably circuit training with the whole family.

This lasts twenty minutes, in which as many rounds as possible should be completed.

The unit starts with a 400 meter dash. Then do 15 kettlebell swings, 10 push-ups, 15 shoulder presses, and 15 bent-over rows.

J.Lo and her family completed four laps, finishing in the plank position for the final seconds. Who offers more?

Fifth place: Beyoncé

In order to build strength and endurance and to be fit for her shows, Beyoncé relies on a mixture of interval, weight and strength training.

Your 50-minute workout includes crunches, lunges, punches, and jumps. Women burned 475 calories, men 556.

This puts Queen B in fifth place.

Sixth place: Khloé Kardashian

And another member of the Kardashian clan is reflected in this ranking. Sixth place is taken by Kim’s younger sister Khloé.

The female test subjects burned 469 calories, the male 554. This puts the workout just behind Beyoncé’s workout.

Strictly speaking, however, you would burn more calories during Khloé’s workout than her sisters’, because the calorie consumption per minute was higher – but the workout overall was shorter.

No wonder, because just the sight of squats, push-ups, stretch jumps and strength training brings beads of sweat to your forehead.

Seventh place: Chrissy Teigen

In her 40-minute workout, Chrissy Teigen works her triceps, strengthens her core and runs. The female test subjects came up with a calorie consumption of 389 calories, the male test subjects 459 calories.

Otherwise, the model also likes to do Pilates or dance workouts.

Eighth place: Vanessa Hudgens

‘High School Musical’ actress Vanessa Hudgens enjoys taking spin classes.

The test subjects took a similar course and burned 363 calories (women) and 411 calories (men). There is eighth place for Vanessa.

Ninth place: Jessie J

Jessie J secured the penultimate place. Her workout is more unusual than that of the other celebrity women.

Because Jessie does martial arts. The women burned 350 calories in the test and the men 401 calories.

Tenth place: Margot Robbie

Last place in the Most Effective Celebrity Workout category goes to Margot Robbie.

To stay fit and relax at the same time, she regularly attends a one-hour Pilates session. The female test persons burned 195 calories, the male burned 225 calories.

Why do men burn more calories than women?

In this series of studies, the calorie consumption of the male test subjects was always higher than that of the female test subjects.

And there’s a reason: Most fitness trackers use standard equations based on averages to calculate a person’s BMR.

These equations assume that men have more muscle mass and therefore burn more calories than women, even at the same weight.
