Gochujang is a hot Korean spice paste that is used for marinating meat, in stews or as a dip.
In terms of color and consistency, it is reminiscent of the tomato paste we are familiar with.
Together with hummus you conjure up a delicious sauce that provides variety on the plate. If you think these ingredients don’t go together, it’s best to see for yourself.
Gochujang and hummus: this is how the pasta sauce works
For two servings you need the following ingredients:
- 200g pasta of your choice (e.g. Rigatoni)
- 1 white onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1-2 tbsp gochuyang
- 4-5 tbsp hummus
- some oil or butter for the pan
First, chop the onion and garlic and sauté them in the pan until translucent. Then add the gochujang and simmer for two to three minutes.
Then all you have to do is add the hummus and some of the pasta water, stir – and the original pasta sauce is ready. The starch contained in the pasta water ensures that the sauce becomes creamier.
The dish is particularly delicious if you garnish it with chilli oil, parmesan and parsley.
You can also use the sauce as a base for pizza, simply spread it over the dough and top it with your favorite ingredients.
Enjoy your meal!
