“A-shot-chu”: That’s the name of the new coffee that’s currently trending in South Korea.
The name derives from the words “americano”, i.e. an espresso diluted with water, “shot”, in German a shot, and “chughada”, the Korean verb for “to give”.
As its name describes, this drink involves adding a shot of espresso to another drink and thereby lengthening it.
However, not like the usual iced coffee variants with milk, water or vanilla ice cream, but with peach ice tea!
Prepare a shot chu
Ingredients for a glass
- 200ml peach ice tea
- 1-2 cups of espresso
- 1 peach
- ice cubes
- rosemary sprigs for garnish (optional)
The coffee is very easy and quick to prepare: Wash and cut the peach into small pieces. Instead of fresh fruit, you can also use canned peaches, but these are usually sweetened.
Then put ice cubes and peach pieces in a glass and fill it about three-quarters full with peach ice tea.
Finally, all you have to do is add your espresso, stir the mixture well and garnish the iced coffee as you like.

If you don’t like peaches or peach ice tea, you can use other teas and fruits of your choice.
